Well done one and all. We've had a good turnout all year and finished on a high note with about 19 of us on Saturday putting in a couple of hours work to have the garden looking at its best for the visit of the Archbishop yesterday. There was great activity up at the church in preparation. As well as the gardeners there were flower arrangers inside doing what they do well and builders up a cherry picker power hosing the roof.
We plan to have the next work party in early March when major work has to be done on the long bed opposite the main door. Because of the roof repairs we have been unable to work there for most of the summer so a complete overhaul of that bed is planned. So from Lorna and myself thank you all for giving up your time, and we look forward to seeing you again with your clippers and hoes in March 2018.

The Garden Gang will meet for a final clean-up on Saturday 18th November. This is the day before the Archbishop's visit, so all help appreciated. 10 am to noon, with a coffee break at 11ish!
Due to the work on the Church roof much of the garden could not be maintained as usual during the summer. A major garden work party is being organized for the morning of Saturday 14th October to do as much tidying as possible before the Harvest Thanksgiving the following day when we are joined by parishioners from neighboring churches. As many of the usual gardeners will be decorating the Church that morning this is a request to anyone who is free to come along and give a hand. We need as many people as possible, male and female, young and old. One of our regular gardeners is into his 90's and he contributes as much as the "youngsters"! No previous experience is necessary. Lorna will be on hand to allocate the jobs and instruct where necessary.

About usA few times a year we throw on our wellies, grab our secateurs and meet on a Saturday to tend to our lovely Garden of Remembrance, and the rest of the grounds around our Church. We are a pretty friendly bunch and hope to see you at our next clean-up. Archives
