Our golfing Society had a great day out on Friday 14th September at Sutton Golf Club. As always, this outing is our main sponsor event of the year. A total of 30 golfers teed off including 8 ladies. The weather was kind and the links course was in great condition. There were many golfing prizes to be won. The Captain's Cup was won by Paul Tierney. The Lady's Joe Dalton Cup was won by Cathy Bryce. Visitors first prize went to Craig McMullen. Sponsor's first prize went to John Sullivan. The Jackie Tinnion Cup, which goes to the highest combined score of all the outings was awarded to David Beatty. Our appreciation goes to all the sponsors who sponsored one or more of the tees. They were as follows: Bank of Ireland, Sutton Camden Clothing Super Valu Sutton Nicky's Plaice Appian Asset Management McCartan's Pharmacies Elevate Selection Arena Group Burlington Real Estate White Sands Hotel The Marine Hotel Eddie Kerr John Sullivan Ecomod
Dinner that night was the usual convivial affair. The highlight of the evening was a silent auction for two framed signed shirts by the world famous golfers Sergio Garcia and Dustin Johnson. The shirts were generously donated by Colin Byrne, the well renowned Irish caddy. The raffle later on enabled diners to win great prizes due to the generosity of the following organizations and people, namely Paulmer Jewellers Bryce Fmaily Our House Restaurant Paddy Devine Jus de Vin Golden Elephant Restaurant Pat Cody Many thanks also to the anonymous donor
Much of the credit for persuading sponsors to contribute goes to our Captin Andrew Bryce, who provided great leadership during the year of his tenure. Andrew has made great efforts to expand the reach of our golfing society which will be of benefit in the years to come. As a result of everybody's efforts and contributions our society will be able to donate at least 3,500 euro to Church funds at the next AGM. information about the golfing society can be obtained from the Hon. Secretary John McMillan
